In the first Spotlight Interview, we sit down and have a candid and open conversation with Jennifer McCabe, the General Manager of Holmes Hotel London.
Having worked in the industry for over 18 years, Jennifer has a vast range of experience from large corporate hotels to small independently run boutique hotels. She has added value to each of the roles she has undertaken, resulting in career progression at every stage.
Through her passion, dedication, hard work and strategic vision, Jennifer carved herself a magnificent career culminating with the role of General Manager in various four-star and five-star properties in London and Edinburgh.
Her journey in hospitality started while she was still studying when she took on different waitressing roles in restaurants and saw the buzz and the excitement that the industry offers.
Soon after that, she moved to Edinburgh and started working in the Front Office department of a hotel, and in less than three years got her first General Manager role at the Le Monde Hotel in Edinburgh.
Her decision to relocate to London saw her starting a nine-year-long journey with Firmdale Hotels, which comprises ten hotels and eight bars and restaurants in London and New York, each individually designed and decorated by Kit Kemp. Jennifer held the Deputy General Manager's position at the Covent Garden Hotel before becoming General Manager at the Knightsbridge Hotel and Charlotte Street Hotel.
Since 2019, Jennifer is the General Manager of Holmes Hotel London, where curious minds will find a second home. Delightfully designed and ideally located on fashionable Chiltern Street, Holmes Hotel flawlessly combines tradition with contemporary style. After it underwent a complete refurbishment, Jennifer joined the hotel to spearhead the hotel's repositioning as a luxury five-star boutique hotel.
Jennifer is passionate about all aspects of the hospitality industry, especially creating memorable experiences for the guests, developing amazing people, and delivering results. She is a firm believer in cross-departmental training for team members as they will enable the team members to see the bigger picture of how the operation is run and decide what area of the industry will suit them best.
Jennifer has not only built a great career in hospitality, one that is sure to take her to new heights, but she also managed to find the right work-life balance. She is a mother of two amazing boys and enjoys a long and happy relationship with her husband.
Jennifer McCabe's journey in the industry is the perfect example of how through the right vision, hard work, passion and dedication, one can build a beautiful career in the amazing hospitality industry and at the same time enjoy a five-star life at home.
