The magic of Hospitality

The most important thing in hospitality is to be able to create a memorable experience for the guests. Being part of that is one of the most exciting things that one can do.

To put a smile on someone's face, make their day, and gift them memories that they will draw from for the rest of their lives is what makes working in hospitality simply exhilarating.

I especially love the moment when I see a smile appear on someone's face when they are having a bad day or are just in a negative state of mind. That is the moment when I feel I did my job, that I genuinely had a positive impact on them, that I used my time wisely, and it just makes me happy.

Who wouldn't like to bring happiness on people's faces and in their hearts, right? I strive to do that every day in my life, but to do it as my job is a huge blessing.

Every day I meet people from all walks of life, some with first world problems, some with actual ones and the fact that I can use my abilities to brighten up their day or to offer comfort or relief ends up constantly lifting me up as well and gifting me new perspectives and a renewed appreciation for my life.

Sure there are challenging moments and guests, or days when I get tired and moments where I doubt if it is all worthwhile, but it takes just a moment when I feel that I made a difference to someone's day to wash that all away.

Everyone working in hospitality is doing their part to achieve that ultimate goal of gifting happiness. Some do it consciously, driven by the possibility of turning a frown into a smile, even if it is just for a fleeting moment. Some do it just as a job, but regardless, the result is the same.

Being surrounded by these fantastic humans and working together like a well-oiled machine with the sole purpose of creating happy memories for others filters through to one's personal life and most likely will make one happy and grateful for the opportunity.

That is the true magic of hospitality: you work to create happiness for others, and you end up attracting it for yourself!
